Windows Vista is a desktop operating system developed by Microsoft, released to consumers on January 30, 2007. As the successor to Windows XP and predecessor to Windows 7, it introduced the Aero visual interface powered by the Desktop Window Manager, integrated desktop search, a redesigned Start menu and Windows Explorer, and the Sidebar with Gadgets. Vista emphasized security with User Account Control, Windows Defender, an improved firewall, and BitLocker drive encryption in the Enterprise and Ultimate editions. Under the hood, it added the Windows Display Driver Model and DirectX 10, a new networking stack, and performance features such as SuperFetch and ReadyBoost. Productivity and media updates included Windows Media Center (in Home Premium and Ultimate), Photo Gallery, DVD Maker, Internet Explorer 7, and Windows Mail. The operating system shipped in multiple editions—Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate—in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. While praised for its security groundwork and modernized interface, Vista’s initial release drew criticism for high system requirements, driver and application compatibility issues, and frequent UAC prompts; later service packs improved stability and performance. Mainstream support ended in April 2012, and extended support ended on April 11, 2017.

Windows Vista is developed by Microsoft. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 8.5. The names of program executable files are calc.exe, msnmsgr.exe, reader.exe, VistaUpgradeAdvisor.exe and WindowsUpgradeAdvisor.exe.
